This project will reconstruct N. Pine Street, from Milwaukee Avenue to Jefferson Street, and W. Chestnut Street, from Milwaukee Avenue to Pine Street. The project will address deteriorating pavement conditions, improve safety along the corridors, enhance accommodations for pedestrians and improve streetscape enhancements.
A Word from the Mayor:
"Downtown Burlington is the heart of our community, a place to gather and connect. The Downtown Reconstruction Project is about more than replacing pavement. Much of our infrastructure downtown is aging, and this is our opportunity to rebuild it in a way that serves Burlington for decades. It’s also a rare chance to improve safety, accessibility, and the overall downtown experience."
Q + A
Are businesses still open during construction?
Yes, they are OPEN and ready for you!
Should I just wait until construction is over to visit the downtown?
This is actually one of the most impactful times to shop local. Your support right now helps businesses stay strong so there’s an even better downtown waiting for you when it’s done.
Can I still get to all the businesses safely?
Absolutely! Access may look a little different depending on the phase of construction- (some might use their back door at times). If you’re unsure, check the businesses social media for wayfinding messaging.
How can I support local businesses during this time?
Shop in-store or online, share posts, leave reviews, and tell your friends. Encourage shoppers to purchase a BINGO card and “Experience Burlington”!
Where should I park?
All five public parking lots are still free and still available as well as most of the free street parking. See the parking map!
